One bright sunny weekend, a bunch of 10 photography-loving locals armed with smartphones and the Instagram app met for a walkabout around one of Singapore’s older yet charmingly quaint neighbourhoods, Dakota Crescent.
What they saw draws us back to the warmth of Singapore’s nostalgic old-world charm. In a fast-paced bustling city of modern skyscrapers, these 18 photos are strangely therapeutic.
One of the many housing blocks at Dakota Crescent
Exposed bricks, a rare sight in the newer housing establishments
Retro playground of the 90s
Full of colour beyond the whitewashed walls!
Lifts of old, like a time machine taking us back in time
Where lift buttons taught patience and graciousness
Order and symmetry
Behind closed doors
Why, hello there
The feline stare
Resident cats a common sight
Life goes on
Nostalgia kicks in at The Dove Playground
Dakota Crescent remains to be a place that reminds us of Singapore’s early beginnings in building community amongst all races through housing developments, and our harmonious society is a wonderful testament to that.
